Most dogs learn quickly with a consistent routine and lots of rewards.
How
- Take your dog out first thing, after meals, naps and play, and before bed
- Go to the same spot and wait calmly
- Reward right away with a treat and praise
- Supervise indoors, or use a crate or small area when you can't
- Clean accidents with an enzyme cleaner
Don't punish
Scolding after an accident teaches your dog to hide, not to go outside. Reward the right place instead.
